About

Young, attractive, sexy, slim, intelligent, female ……

…. OK, maybe more grumpy old woman than gorgeous young wench as the above description is about forty fifty years out of date (accurate then), but I’m still female and intelligent.

Not religious but if there is a devil he’s a politician advised by bankers and corporate executives all seemingly intent on despoiling the planet and controlling the inhabitants.

Retired 2014, living in my motorhome and travelling, mainly continental Europe. Photographing all those places I’ve always wanted to see and others I didn’t know I wanted to see. Camera; Panasonic Lumix G6. Lenses; 14-42mm, 45-200mm, 100-300mm, 25mm Prime.

Widowed, in my thirties, with 2 now grown ups K & J (whose inheritance I’m happily spending – there was never going to be much anyway as I’ve spent my working life as a registered nurse) and the coolest super-intelligent grandson JJ, aka The Smart One. Other important people in my life who may receive mention are Big Bruvva henceforth referred to as BB as it will piss him off, disabled bruvva P (died 2015) and great friends R&S (also wanderers in their VW).

The Mepstead noses clockwise from top left – K, JJ (whose nose isn’t fully established yet), J, BB, Panasonic Micro4/3, Nomaggsrush.

This blog was conceived as a method of recording my travels and adventures so that when I’m in my dotage I can look back at it and say “I did that”. (And so that the family can check that I am where I say I am!!) If you, as a visitor, without any arm twisting, enjoy reading it, I’m really pleased; feel free to comment and/or contact me.

I started writing before the main event so that I could record the preparations and lead up to the start of my late life adventure, the idea for which had been simmering for about a dozen years.

Finally I’m doing it and it doesn’t get any better than this …..

    1. Thanks Liz. Many thanks too for the mascot who will definitely accompany me, I don’t know how you can crochet so small – I’m a wuss with tiny hooks. πŸ™‚

  4. So pleased to have found your blog … Via an old Saga magazine article. I look forward to following your progress. Sad to hear about your brother, he looked a really great person in your photos, hopefully you will find comfort from all your happy memories. All your photos are beautiful and It must be wonderful to have the freedom to go wherever you want.

    1. Thank you so much, glad you’re enjoying my blog. I’m off travelling again in a few weeks having had a hiatus overwinter to help my daughter with home and child whilst she trained as a teacher.

    1. First time out I had all my campsites booked. When I went to France I had a general idea and some specific places I wanted to go but I do tend to go where the mood (and the decent weather) takes me now I’ve gained more confidence. Back to France in 3 months and then down to Spain and Portugal for the winter, general route will be down the west coast of France this time, but yet to make up my mind where I shall cross the Pyrenees.

  5. Hi – you can ignore the following if you are not interested but thought I’d send it to you anyway. I have nominated you for the Liebster Award. I am new to the awards myself but was nominated, looked into it and decided to accept. I have enjoyed the process involved in meeting the requirements of this award and hopefully it may lead to increasing the number of people who visit my blog. If you like the sound of it I hope you will accept (but no problem if you don’t) Many thanks. You can find the information in my blog today. Kay
